What does FIV stand for?  Feline Immunodeficiency Virus

What does this mean?  IF your FIV+ cat gets sick, they need a little extra care to get well.  They don’t have the immune system to get better on their own. Take them to the vet at the first sign of illness.

What can you do to help?  Keep your FIV+ cat inside.  There are a lot of outside allergens that can make your feline companion very sick.

• FIV is cat specific.  It CANNOT be spread to humans or to other pets
• FIV+ cats CAN live with other cats without spreading FIV to them.  FIV is only transmitted through deep puncture bites or is passed from mothers to their unborn kittens.  It is NOT transmitted through casual contact (mutual grooming, sharing bowls/toys)
• FIV+ cats CAN live LONG HEALTHY lives!
